All that on the opposed rolls is also why I prefer a resistance table or similar as the best choice. Have the active character roll. If the skills are even, roll against 10. For every point of difference add or subtract one. Your skill is higher, add. Their skill is higher, subtract. If the difference is more than 10, don’t roll. Whoever has the higher skill just wins.

That's true. It shouldn't be noteworthy that fans of a game are happy and excited about the game they're playing. But that's the world today, unfortunately.

I became especially aware of that after I had spent a few weeks almost exclusively in a Shadowdark online community. Stopped by a 5e forum and was struck with how toxic it was. Everybody seemed to have a reason to hate the game.

Yeah. I’m having a blast reading various Dragonbane forums and social sites. People seem to genuinely be happy with the game and enjoy playing it. There’s discussion and disagreements, but nothing toxic I’ve seen. It really is a breath of fresh air in comparison. If for no other reason I hope more people break out of the toxic side of fandom and try other stuff. It can only help make the industry and the community better.

We had a good session today, but definitely got into Conditions, and they definitely do matter. One character with a Scared and Dazed, another with Dazed. Not too bad, but they had already burned their stretch rest from an earlier battle and then got hit with some swarms of biting spiders that needed to be killed with fire and no ability to recover for several more hours. They decided to retreat to the village for a full night's rest and will return (with a few more supplies) the next morning.

Our player with Scared was staying toward the rear and wanted to leave, while our Dazed character was stumbling around a bit. Weaknesses got played as well, and players are hamming it up.

The second funniest part was a character with a 14 Evade rolling a 20 and falling on his face as the swarms of spiders skittered all over his body. The most funny thing would take too long to explain. :D

Nice. That sounds like it was a good time. Hamming it up is always fun.

Don’t make the mistake I did and let a player sell their starting gear. Oof. Never doing that again.

They're really pinching silver pieces right now, but not too much longer I think. They'll make some real headway next session.
Yeah. That was part of my mistake. Took that aspect off the table immediately. Still it could have been worse. Instead of a sword he could have sold his knight’s plate mail or combat-trained horse.

You may enjoy this video from Knights of the Last Call. Derik is the TTRPG veteran who loves all sorts of games: d20, PbtA, FU, YZE, etc. Bob is a relative TTRPG newcomer. But it was Bob who became the enthusiast for Dragonbane, and his enthusiasm was infectious. This video is from around 11 months ago. Bob is still running Dragonbane games.
