D&D 5E (2014) How many times in an adventuring day does your party spellcaster cast a cantrip spell?

My players are always using Prestidigitation, Thaumaturgy, Druidcraft, Message, and Dancing Lights to chew the scenery and do minor stunts. And don't get me started on Guidance.

If a combat lasts 3-4 rounds, then a cantrip is cast 2-3 times per combat with maybe a level spell cast once. Above 7th level ,maybe twice. This seems to follow all the casters at my table. Out of combat, maybe 4-5 cast all day.

"Party spellcaster"?
Most of the party are spellcasters generally.
I'd say they average out at around 6-10 per spellcaster, but generally out of combat utility more than in-combat.

11-15 range seems about right - as others said, guidance with about everything. A few offensive cantrips thrown in too.

Is there a cleric or warlock in the party? If yes, then my answer is approximately one bazillion.

My character: "I need a short rest to go to the little adventurer's room."
Cleric: "Guidance."

We have a Paladin, Ranger (w cantrips*), Sorc, and Artificer(me) in our party. We cast a bajillion cantrips every day.

*Druidic warrior plus Druid Magic initiate

Depends on the party composition but there are a few cantrips that easily get cast over 20 times per day outside combat.

Shillelagh, Mage Hand, and Guidance are generally assumed to cast constantly to keep their duration refreshed without the player needing to mention casting it.

Dancing Lights, Create Bonfire, Mending, Message, Minor Illusion, Druidcraft, Prestidigitation, Elementalism, Blade Ward, Resistance all have cases where a player might spam it repeatedly outside combat

Since we are now 2nd level in new campaign we use cantrips all the time.
True strike is fan favorite now. probably 1/2 rounds are cantrips. I will get lower later with more spell slots.
Guidance is still a thing, but when we get to 3rd level after next session it will diminish in usage as soon as useful conc spells come into play.

mage hand(with Telekinetic feat) and Minor illusion are go-to exploration boosters.

The monk 18/rogue1/druid-magic initiate usually has guidance up the 1st round of combat
The warlock14/bard5 probably uses a cantrip every other round of combat.
The cleric14/paladin3 uses Toll the Dead probably every 3rd round of combat
The paladin 18/warlock1 forgets he has cantrips, so maybe 1 in 6 rounds of combat
The fighter 12/wizard7 only uses cantrips when at range
The bard18/cleric1 uses cantrips maybe 1 round in 4, mainly because a 6th level slot often becomes a permanent "bottle of smoke" illusion that he uses actions to blind enemies.

At around 12th level, there's a lot of sub/classes that becomes "more of the same" and invite people to make dips into caster for variety. The fighter/wizard only has a few damage spells/day worth casting, but Longstrider + Mirror Image + shield lets him close & tank like crazy.
