So players are still careful because if we do not make it alive back to our camp site we lose any equipment and loot we have gained since the last time we camped. It is not a cheat because when we die we wake up knowing that we were killed and how the battle went. It allows for our dm to throw more powerful boss type enemies against us that we can learn how to beat. It does mean that we might go into an area or attack a boss that we know is going to be powerful before we should just so we can get a gauge of how tough it will be. Then we know if we have to go back to a lower powered area, if there are specific strength that we have to be able to defend against and what not.Out of curiosity, how does that impact play? Are players too bold and less careful? Do they "cheat/cheese" using knowledge gained from a failed battle? Does it still feel meaningful despite death being a speedbump?
And btw the dark is still terrifying.
Over all it is fun knowing that our characters won't stay dead. Our cleric who rolled a 1 for her starting hp died 13 times before she got to level 2
