The problem with today is that people no longer engage in clever satire or over-the-top pranks, it's instead taken as an opportunity to tell blatant lies under the cover of "it's just a joke bruh."

Compound this with the obvious evils being made possible by idiotic greedy techbros giving the public access to technologies they shouldn't have, and we get the current state of the world: a dystopian hellscape of forgeries and deceit, where nothing and no one can be trusted.
