I have a question. Why is the PDF 28 and the physical copy just 2 pounds more? Wouldn't it be the other way around where the physical copy costs the most and the PDF is fairly inexpensive?

I'll get to the other replies in the morning. But just to note Drivethrurpg are handling fulfilment, so the prices listed for physical books do not count their Printing costs. The pdf is £28, the physical book (+ pdf) is £30 but then the backer chooses their preferred Print option: Standard +33 dollars and premium (glossy) +54 dollars (weirdly this tablet keyboard doesn't have the US dollar sign of you can believe it).

I think the question is: why are you making so little profit off the print version?

@Upper_Krust congratulations man on this project. I'm very much looking forward to your first two products specifically! I promised my table I'd run our game all the way to level 20 (at least once in my life), they're currently level 15 and we are having a blast. With a product like this I could continue that campaign for a while longer.

The group is currently in Forgotten Realms, there will be some plane-hopping but being a Mystaran fanboi, I intend to return to the reality of Mystaraspace and explore Dimensions, The Void and all the weird and wonderful that setting has to offer for Immortal-level campaigns.

I also like the idea that you're thinking of keeping it simple and not just have more and more levels which is something that appeals to me as a DM for encounter design and running a combat.

Most importantly the table would have to figure out new hooks/goals for the PCs for epic tier play.

Very excited to hear that you're finally approaching completion @Upper_Krust ! I wonder, will we get a tease or sample stats for the Neutronium Golem as part of your pre-release publicity? I'd be interested in seeing how it compares 1:1 with the old Epic Bestiary version, but it's also probably the best-know part of your oeuvre, so I bet it would help people connect this project with your older stuff.

Have a great birthday! I had mine (52) earlier this month.

I'm 52 on Wednesday amigo. :giggle:

I think so too.

You offer both, if they chose the less art version - that is their choice. No cost difference IMO.

Is anyone seriously going to want a blank pages version - I just don't see it.

If anyone is interested in such a thing either post in this thread or message me privately.

Absolutely, I wasn't trying to suggest it was the same scale of endeavor. Just that I have seen the concept tackled before.

I am happy to tie Stretch Goals with commissioning new art and replacing the AI art starting with the art that had the least amount of re-working by me and go from there.

Not sure yet how to structure that just yet (will check out Steampunkette's project shortly) but maybe replace one image for every £1000 over £10k...or something along those lines.

I wasn't trying to suggest you were not being.

I know you weren't amigo. :giggle:

Just putting it out there that is is important. I might even provide the breakdown (commissioned vs AI), that could lead into your stretch goals.

Kickstarter and Drivethrurpg have their own disclosure policies on AI. I'm always happy to be upfront with backers.

Happy birthday! We're throwing a birthday party for my daughter this afternoon!

Thanks, birthday is actually this coming Wednesday but more convenient to celebrate on the Saturday. Wish your daughter a belated Happy Birthday from me and hope she had a great day. ;)

For the record, I don't think you should let anyone on this site or any other browbeat you about AI art.

People get emotional, I understand it. I'm happy to discuss and chat about it and even mitigate things (with Stretch Goals) - but I won't be throwing many thousands of dollars and ten thousand hours of work down the drain to appease people with nothing invested into this project.

You should do what makes the most sense for your project and your practical situation. This is an amazing potential product, and I look forward to supporting it with more than just words.

Cheers buddy. I appreciate the support.

I own a physical copy of @Steampunkette 's original book with the AI art, and I like it. I think she was right originally about the AI being a good aesthetic fit for the twisty psionic subject matter.

Yes its interesting, I've noticed the AI is a good fit for Gods (especially idealized characters) and not so good for Monsters (depending on type - its okay for golems/robots).

As far as I'm concerned @Upper_Krust is the new artist for these pieces as he put many hours, up to 33 in one case, into achieving his own vision.

Its very, very rare that AI coughs up something you can use right 'out of the gate'. The amount of re-work is typically a few hours (if its one character) and potentially 30+ hours for a big double page scene. I realized I needed to use AI art to finish the book when I had to split it between Gods (Players Guide) and Monsters (The Bestiary).

Hey there GreatestHonor.

Personally, I would prefer a a version with no AI. Whether stretch goals make it viable to replace, or the pages become blank.

I heavily dislike AI “art”, so even a text-only version would be favorable for me.

I can easily have a version that just deletes any AI art and leaves a blank space - if a handful of people are interested in something like this I will make it happen.

Stretch Goals to replace AI art (starting with the least re-painted) I'll try and sort out over the next few days.
