Spoilers Alien: Earth Spoiler Thread

Great read, thanks for posting the link! Definitely interesting when they're talking about the Eye's potential long term plans.

One thing I just remembered, given that the facehugger continues to implant the embryo into Bronski while he is in the cryo-sleep chamber, and the embryo gestates to become a chestburster, can we safely assume that Burke's plan in Aliens to get Ripley and Newt's implanted bodies into the sleep chambers to bring back to Earth would have also gone spectacularly wrong?

Canonically, I think so.

We know the ovomorph (Alien egg) can tell the difference between human and synthetic. Presumably xenomorphs can tell the difference as well. I wonder if the Eye attacked Nibs under the assumption that she was human based on physical appearance and it only learned during the attack that she wasn't. It will be an interesting twist if we find out that the Eye can turn a synthetic/hybrid into a host body. That would certainly upend the perceived near-invincibility of the hybrids/synthetics. Interesting thought...what if the 5th unknown species ends up being deadly to synthetic/hybrids and that's a big reveal later on?
If the Eye can turn a synthetic into a host body, what an interesting proposition! On the one hand, much more RAM and processing power. On the other hand, mammals probably underutilize their biological potential, and so perhaps the Eye is able to do more with that, whereas a synthetic brain is probably highly efficient and already optimized. One could argue that the Eye could do more with less when it comes to controlling a biological brain and body.

Another fun episode, man I felt the creep factor when tootles went for the cage.

So a lot of the Alien franchise does run on incompetence which has been established in previous movies, but with the kids it adds a degree of believability. One moment the kids are able to make adult decisions and do adult things, but at other times they are still just kids....trying to prove themselves, not wanting to get in trouble, and so you can see tootles just wanting to please Kirsh and do his job, and getting himself killed for it.

How did Arthur actually get access to the lab? I thought it was strictly off limits to all non-synthetics? Could Kirsch actually have changed that to allow the scene to happen?

The one area where incompetence did reign this episode was with the mind wipe. I actually get why they did it, that part makes sense to me. What I can't believe is they didn't talk to the kids before waking up Nibs.....telling them that Nibs had a malfunction, that she won't remember everything, etc. I mean what did they expect to happen, they would talk about the crash, Nibs would be like "huh"...and everyone would just be totally fine with it? Because they just let it ride it made everything 1000 times worse.

Me watching E5 and thinking the Eye was trying to help that one scientist with the bugs: 🤡
Noah Hawley has confirmed in an interview that it wasn’t helping, it was trying to distract the scientist.

(Also this is the spoiler thread; no spoiler boxes needed)

It was confirmed for me when I watched Episode 6 lol. That Eye is full of rage. I loved the closing shot.
