D&D General Forgotten Realms Books Tables of Contents

The Table of Contents for both Heroes of Faerun and Adventures in Faerun.

Picked the books up this morning and love what I’ve seen so far. I’ll answer whatever questions I can here.

Anyone who got the book can check who are the Baldur's Gate Dukes?

Spoiler: BG3 SPOILERS

With BG3 killing Stelmane and Portyr (and potentially Ravengard) out of four and implying one is either dead or ousted before the game started, I'm curious about the council new formation.

The previous lore had Tymanther and Returned Abeir (Laerakond) as the only places dragonborn originated from. They were supposed to be rare in the rear of the Realms, even 100 years after their arrival. That stuff of dragonborn being all over the place is a retcon of this book.

The previous lore was itself a retcon, the original dragonborn were humanoids who underwent a kinky unbirthing ritual in the name of Bahamut and emerged shiny and chrome. Who's to say people weren't doing that on Toril in the Dawn Age?

Anyone who got the book can check who are the Baldur's Gate Dukes? With BG3 killing two or three out of four and implying one is either dead or ousted before the game started, I'm curious about the council new formation.

Some people have noted that Stelmane is apparently back to life and maybe even fully healed from her stroke.

Which, tbh... makes sense to me. Someone like Stelmane should be able to afford a priest to cast greater restoration or has a diamond stashed away to have her brought back to life.

The Council of Four are Grand Duke Ravenguard, Duke Dillar Portyr, Duke Brevek Faenor, and Duke Belynne Stelmane.

The current grand duke is Ulder Ravengard, the rest of the Council

The other members of the Council of Four include the distant and ineffective Duke Dillar Portyr, the fiery priest Duke Brevek Faenor (Medium, Lawful Neutral Archpriest), and the strong-willed Duke Belynne Stelmane, who is currently possessed by a mind flayer and struggles for control of her body and her actions.

Huh…that definitely makes it sound like this book is actually set before the events of BG3.

Huh…that definitely makes it sound like this book is actually set before the events of BG3.

It is not. The section about Lorroakan makes a very vague mention to his role in the Nightsong quest and makes it clear it happened. But they don’t mention most of the rest of it.

Also we know for a fact these books take place on 1501 DR and BG3 takes place roughly a decade earlier.

Definitely a little confusing, since BG3 strongly hinted about the root cause of Stelmane’s condition and it doesn’t seem like something that would be happening a decade and a resurrection later.
