D&D General Forgotten Realms Books Tables of Contents

The Table of Contents for both Heroes of Faerun and Adventures in Faerun.

Picked the books up this morning and love what I’ve seen so far. I’ll answer whatever questions I can here.

I have never seen Portyr die in BG 3

He dies offscreen between Gortash's coronation and when you show up to fight him. You can find his corpse in the assembly hall.

In some cases. In others, especially in the case of the 2014 books, they make it clear there are canon endings. Icewind Dale has some of that, as does Baldur’s Gate with Descent Into Avernus and Waterdeep Dragon Heist.

Some are very specific. Especially the BG Avernus one. Others have specific moments canonized but not a specific ending, like Frostmaiden.

Do we really need to care about books being "in print" in the 21st century? You can buy or get all the content digitally, oftentimes directly from WotC.

They all are. I think the 2014 core will not recieve another print run, but there's still tons out there, and I'm not even talking about used ones!

It's clear that these books assume the 5E adventures happened in the recent past (within the last 10 years in-world). But there's no reason you can't still run them. You could use the default setting assumptions in those adventures or mix them with elements from these new setting books. The latter is what I would/will do. As I've said, I don't get hung up on canon, since canon doesn't survive first contact with the players.

No piety system. It's mostly just lore about the major gods and their organizations.

...well they don't identify the solstices + equinoxes but they way they've color-coded the seasons implies either traditional calendar designations or a return to previous meteorological cycles...

I wasn't insulting, so I apologize if you feel that way. Thought, if I "read" as insulting, it's because I'm not happy. It's not an easy thing to process that your 14 years old campaign is now dead. I will heal, over time. But today the wound hurts.

Understand! Thats how so many forgotten realms fan when they made the spell plague!
