I was really excited for this and this did not disappoint. House of the Dragon is just pointlessly edgelord for my tastes and I gave up on it.

Dunk and Egg being decent guys in an indecent world is such a refreshing change of pace, even if dealing the usual band of scumbag nobles means they'll never be short of conflict.

Given that GRRM has been promising to finish the fourth Dunk and Egg story for more than 15 years now, I'm fine with just getting three well told seasons and getting out. (They're filming the second season now.)

This is also close to my sweet spot for fantasy games -- that other stuff is out there, but it's mysterious and rare. Most everyone has enough trouble with technically ordinary people running around with swords.

Dunk is a nervous pooper in the books. The producers said they've toned that way down, so it may happen but not nearly as much as it would if you were reading the excellent novellas.
wow, I completely blanked on that part of the novellas. No citations needed - I believe you, but I did not remember any pooping at all. I remember the main books making a big deal of peeing, but that was mostly when Arya was trying to maintain her secret.

I think I'm going to need a poop edit; no one needs gratuitous projectile defecation.

D&E has a low-level D&D campaign vibe -- that's a huge plus IMO. Though it's probably a single-player campaign and the DM added an NPC sidekick character. (We won't mention that it's a ripoff of samurai Lone Wolf & Cub, but then so is the Mandalorian so it's in good company.)
