That's my cue, as I did the art on the templates and effects and written the rules* and done the cover...

* with more than a little help from the Baron! Thanks, Red!

Spell Templates:
Clearly we couldn't fit ALL spell areas in the box (space constrains and all), so we decided in favor of those that were a) frequently used in combat; b) small enough that they wouldn't cover an entire battlemat; and c) helped speed up play.

So the templates are not translucent (that'd be mighty cool, but economically unfeasible). They are gridded (with colored squares denoting affected areas) and have special effects. The generic area effects (like, say, 15-foot cone) have "mystical symbols", like those you might find etched on an alchemist's lab, very cool and stuff. Then there are those spells that just beg to be shown in full glory, like Fireball, Lightning Bolt, Burning Hands... These are fully rendered.

Spell Effects:
These are counters for spell effects, like the Interposing Hand, Clenched Fist, Phantom Steed, four Spiritual Weapons (axe, flail, sword and hammer), Horse and Pony (for the Mount spell), Flaming Sphere...

Also included in the BattleBox are the Action Cards, small-card sized references for special combat maneuvers (like Bull Rush, Counterspell, Grapple or Fighting Defensively) to remind players and DMs of the possibilities of DnD combat and to speed up combat by reducing book-flipping.

Then there's the Alert Factor and Pursuit System rules.

Alert Factor, based on a concept by Mike Mearls, helps a DM in running an enclosed social system, like a castle, a dungeon or even a city.

The Pursuit System, based on a concept by Jason Kempton, adds the thrill of the chase to the d20 experience. Wanna chase twenty orc barbarians cross-country trying to save your two halfling friends? This is your answer! :)

What are the dimensions of the adventure tiles and how many tiles are in the set?

There are over 30 tiles, each 5x5 inches. Each is different and you can assemble them to create larger rooms. Also there are four pages or so of dungeon dressings (doors, columns, stairs, chests...) so you can further customize your Adventure Tiles.

The Adventure Tiles are 5" x 5" squares and feature 15' (3 squares) wide passages. I can't remember exactly how many tiles there are but I think it is about 25 to 30. The feature a wide variety of halls and chamber pieces with loads of cool details.

Cheers - Ed

This sounds really sweet (one more reason to stop by the booth!). :)

Roughly how much "stuff" is in the box?

Pricing, Adventure Tiles and more!

Hi guys, I thought I would give you a bit more info and some pricing corrections since I handle all the files and final production - amongst other things ;)

Battle For China is priced at $19.95, we have starting recouping our development costs on this line so we can drop the price a bit for this title and the 4th installment - Freikorps.

Adventure Tiles: DUNGEONS is priced at $19.95 as well and it contains 31 tiles as described by Ed -it's a very cool tool for the GM. As an added bonus in the tin there is a large fold-out "generic" dungeon battlemat - It is about 21" x 35" if I am not mistaken - and has a 1" grid overlay so you can duke out big battles in style! There will be a similar mat appearing in CC7: Undead coming out in October. As Claudio mentioned - there is 3 pages of counters with dungeon features included such as walls, pit traps, treasure etc.

CCDIGITAL is $29.99, it is being distributed by long-time friends of Fiery Dragon - Sword & Sorcery Studios, their logo will appear on the box as well as ours. There will be approximately 1000 images - I would not say our entire library is included as Claudio creates more counters almost every week for us and the CDROM is closed off for production. The images are 300dpi at their normal sizing. They are raw JPG files so you can place them in your own page layout as you see fit - stretch them to bigger sizes if you wish. Inkjet printers are pretty forgiving and doubling the counter size will still print half-decent even though it drops the res to 150dpi. The counters are sorted into folders by creature type to make things easier. We intend to write a small utility program that will help you build counter pages - nothing fancy, just a small util, to be downloaded from our site and will run on PC and Mac.

One interesting product that will NOT be making it to the show but may as well be announced here is that James Bell is redoing NeMoren's Vault to include the web enhancements with a cleaned up storyline and tweaked to v3.5 rules and will be sold as a PDF at a later date - this is still far away but I just wanted to let it out. The working title is NeMoren's Legacy.

Heh. It's good being corrected on prices because I listed a bunch of them too high! Makes people say "Excellent!"

:)

YES!

I loved running NeMoran's Vault when it first came out, it's a great adventure, and I'm looking forward to this. You say it's still far away, but how far is far? 6 months, 1 year?

If I misremember anything, I curse my faulty metal body:

About 11 action cards, a 16-page rules booklet, a poster-sized battlemat, a poster with the larger spell templates (you'll have to cut 'em out), 4 cardboard pages or so with the smaller spell templates and spell effects, a Pursuit Tracking Grid (for use with the Pursuit System) and a d20.

All in an awesome tin box with an awesome fully painted cover of three adventurers battling a red dragon! Hey, it's a BATTLE box! ;)
