"Uplr, bad start." But as long as nothing starts chewing on me...

Ashnar will try to swim the remaining 5 or so feet (Swim -1). Unless he badly fails, he should have the time to cast his spell once out of the moat.

Charlarn of Phyrah: Male human cleric 2

Charlarn reflexively ducks as arrows fly around him. He takes a running start and attempts to jump across the moat (Jump -1 (untrained)).

I'm going to have to put this adventure on hold for a few days. I've left town w/o my notes. I can't even remember what is in that room the party is about to enter. I should be able to post again on Sunday night. Everyone make sure to get their second round action posted by then, eh?

Rinaldo isn't enjoying much the idea of the attack, but he knows that his help is needed... having safely reach the other side of the moat, he will support his two compagnon in the fight. He draw his rapier and buckler, and charge on the goblin, helping Terebryn.

OOC:
Combat Guideline
Rinaldo will prefer to go in melee and use his improved feint whenever possible. But he will not go in hand to hand combat alone. In that case he will prefer to take his crossbow and shot.

My frequency of post should be twice a week. Manz, if you find that too slow, just leave Rinaldo in the next town, but I'll make sure to give you some guideline to play him like the one above, so you won't have to wait for me.

Somac: Male Human Bbn1

"Thank Grendath, I made it!" Somac says to himself.

He looks around at his companions, some making the jump, some coming up short. He looks back up at the guards as an arrow whizzes past him. He decides that at this point the best defense is a good offense.

OOC: If Somac can target the nearest guard with his bow: he will draw his shortbow as a move action, he will then duck down behind whatever cover is available in his square (if any) and will fire an arrow (before spells, effects, etc., his Atk is +3, 1d6, x3, 60'). If he is unable to target the guard right now, he will begin to climb up toward him; if he can reach him this round and still has an action left, he will attempt to grab his legs and pull him down onto the rubble. Here is his character sheet.

Round 2

Somac can now see the guard. He is a goblin. He stands at the edge of the parapet, just before it crumbled and collapsed. The barbarian pulls out his bow (dropping his sword?) and fires, just clipping the goblin, and doing no serious damage.

Irene picks up speed and attempts to long jump the moat. She clears it without difficulty.

Ashnar tries to make the best of his wet situation, by swimming the rest of the way across. It's not far, but he finds the going slow, the water cold, the rocks slippery where they meet the moat. As he kicks and reaches with his hands, he manages to grasp the rocky inside shore and pull his head up. Next round, he can try to climb up to the shore.

Tenebryn struggles to climb the loose stones. He slips and falls to his knees, making no progess.

Nurlan, Charlyn and Tor all jump the moat. Tor makes some progress up the rocky embackment on the other side. He can see that the slope ends some 10 feet up from the moat, and over the rocks is a mostly dark room with no enemies visible within from his limited vantage. It might be possible to continue climbing up towards the parapet where the goblin archer stands, but that would be another 10 feet climbing, and it gets steeper and narrower that direction.

The goblin releases another arrow at Somac, missing badly, while still blowing on the whistle clasped in his teeth.

Rinaldo climbs higher than Tor, and could leap over the collapsed wall and into the room beyond next round.

Charlarn: Male human cleric 2

If it is too dark for humans to see well, Charlarn will cast light on his morningstar (standard action), then climb up the embankment (move action; Climb -1). If he can still see well enough he'll just climb. Either way he'll try to get to the dark room.

Cleric Spells Prepared (4/3+1: save DC 13 + level):
0–detect magic, guidance (2), light;
1–bless, cure light wounds, hide from undead, sanctuary*.
