Two others move up from the shore and fire at Nurlan and Ashnar, both miss.

Nurlan charges one of them with his longspear, using combat expertise (+2 BAB redirected to AC instead of attack). Net attack bonus: +4 (+2 strength and +2 for charging); AC 15 for this round.

Round 27

Somac, dead but for the rage inside him, manages to find the sahaugin's eyes with his thumbs, and smashes in. (5 pts). He also manages to prevent further raking by blocking the creature's legs with his knees. But the teeth in his shoulder continue to dig deeper, and even his rage can't keep his battered body moving. His eyes roll up in his head and his resistance ceases.

Charlyn strikes a solid blow to his opponent, staggering it, and preventing it from effective counterattack. Nurlan also lands his spear into scaly flesh in his charge. He pulls back as the two sahaugin drop their crossbows and grab at him. He largely escapes injury, although he is snagged by a claw (6 pts) Ashnar misses with another crossbow bolt. Rinaldo also can't get purchase on his opponent's scaley flesh with his rapier. He does receive a talon for his effort. (3 pts). Tor, chest heaving with fatigue, nonethe less manages to send his chain in a long arc, culminating in a solid hit on the side of his opponent's head, sending it tumbling into the surf at their feet. Likewise Tenebrynn manages to hit on his second attempt. He feels the familiar pull of the weapon, guiding his hand unerringly towards the fishman's black heart, where the sharp pick ends another sahaugin's life. Tenebrynn, hearing Irene's call about horses, indeed sees several horses tied up against the trees behind the hut.

As Tor drops his opponent, Rinaldo becomes open to fire from the ocean. Two more gishmen take aim at the merchant. One heavy bolt finds purchase, despite Rinaldo's last minute twitch, sending red blood cascading over the now black sand.

Jezibel's pretty face breaks into a smile at Irene's comment. "We need to get out of here, sister. Let's make a dash for the horses."

I should have stayed back in the cave, Nurlan thinks, crossbow against crossbow was a better deal than this. He feints (move action with the Improved Feint feat) and attacks the same fishman he just wounded (sahuagin loses Dex bonus to AC if the feint works), still using Combat Expertise.

He realizes that Somac needs help, but doesn't think he can get past the sahuagin in his way, so he focuses on killing them first.

Charlarn of Phyrah: Male human cleric 3

The cleric continues attacking. (Atk +3; Dmg 1d8+1). He'll apply his +1 Dodge AC bonus against S26 (AC 18 vs. S26, AC 17 vs. others). "Why won't you drop?"

HP: 11/20

Rinaldo di Senzio, hp:16/22

Rinaldo moves back into the cave, sheating his rapier. "We are just easy target for those crossbowmen." He takes his crossbow on the sand. "Horse behind the hut? We are far from them, and Somac looks like down, things are so good for us. Suggestion?"

OOC: The crossbow bolt did how much damage?

I can't continue like that. Time to get into a position where I'm more effective.

Ashnar drops his crossbow, takes a 5-foot step into a flanking position for Charlarn, and draws his cold iron dagger.

(I mght have the time to drop into defensive fighting, so I'll do it if I have.)

"No reason to hurry Jez, I'm sure to get out of here, one way or the other. So if you're smart you just shut up now and do what I say, or I might actually gonna use my dagger after all."
Irene still prepares to stab Jezibel the moment she tries to get away from her, and she'll keep a safe distance from every sahaugin on the battlefield.

Round 28

Charlyn and Nurlan act almost simutaneously, the cleric smashing down his wounded foe, and Nurlan impaling his. Both sahaugin drop dead.

Jezibel's smile widens at Irene's comment. "Yes. We'll get out of here, using that." She nods deeper into the cave. (This is a bluff check, vs. Irene's sense motive.) Involuntarily, Irene glances into the darkness of the cave. Only briefly, but long enough. Turning back, she sees Jezibel sprinting out of the cave, and the knotted rope hitting the sandy floor. Jezibel dashes out of the cave, past Ashnar (who as of his last action still held his crossbow so doesn't get an AoO. Nor does Rinaldo, who, as of his last action, is facing the other direction. Correct me if I'm wrong), around and behind the round hut. Charlyn sees her run by as he drops his foe. Irene can take an action this round.

Ashnar may restate his 28th round action if he'd like, as there are no more sahaugin in melee range. Rinaldo (who took 3 pts dmg last round) returns to the cave, sheaths his rapier and takes up his crossbow (unless he would also like to change his action)

Tenebrynn runs around the square cabin and sees Somac prone in the sane, heavily wounded, a bloody-mouthed sahaugin rising over him. He is not able to attack yet. Tor steps towards the bard and makes another attack with his chain, aiming at the next sahaugin's head (s13). It is a daring attack, and in his weakened condition almost misses. Only the memory of Nurlan's inspiring song allows him the strength to connect, spraying blood, teeth and an eyeball onto the ever-blackening sand. (9 pts dmg)

Somac's killer sees the blood splattered elf charging at it through the sand. Again it hurls itself forward, attempting to grapple. Tenebryn, stumbling slightly in the sand, is unable to bring his weapon around in time, and the green clawed hand grabs his left forearm. Reacting quickly, the elf twists free before any damage can be done.

Elsewhere, Tor's one-eyed opponent tries the same tactic, hurling itself at the beleaguered barbarian. Tor is too quick, though and slaps it out of the air with his chain, sending it lifeless to the surf. Nurlan's last opponent, seeing its comrade cut down, also hurls itself into close combat. The sturdy bard's weapon is long, but he can't bring it into play before the scaley monster is on him. Amazingly, Tor also is able to swing his weapon backwards to strike at the leaping fishman, but he too, can't connect. Nurlan tries to wrench free of the the cold wet grasp, but finds himself wrestled to the sand, its sharp talons ripping into his flesh (5 pts dmg - prone and grappling.)

Tor's opponents down, and the merchant having taken shelter in the cave, the fatigued warrior finds himself in the bead of two half-submerged sahaugin archers. One of the bolts shatters into his shoulder. Through the burst of pain (8 pts), he notices the other two reloading.
