ENWorld 2

The only trouble I see is that in 6 months time we will have ENWorld2.5 and people will argue whether it is just a marketing ploy or a better board.

Then there will be people that say that ENWorld1 was the only true ENWorld and damned if I am going to go to 2 or 2.5

Eric Noah's Unofficial D&D page is the only true D&D news & info page. All others are just a pale imitation of the real thing.

Where's diaglo when you need him! :)

By the way, the new style seems to be very wide for me. I had to scroll about 3 screen widths to reach the smilies! I appreciate the work that you are doing though Michael.

The editor is broken under the script tester. I don't know why, not inclined to investigate since the problem isn't occuring under vbulletin 3.6. Scriptalicious will only be employeed in full once the boards move to 3.6

Since Russ already let the cat out of the bag as it were, here's a screenshot of the forum. This layout is done more with CSS than tables (though some tables are involved, CSS alone is a thing of pure evil), but it is quite different than the norm for vbulletin and different from any other design I've done. It's still up in the air whether the forum homepage will have columns but this current mockup doesn't feature them. The very top section though is live and working.

Russ and I will pick out about 100 of the more active community members to join the staff in trying to break stuff on the beta platform.

And so until then we're all playing 1 vs. 100: EN World Edition! ;)

Hello everyone. I'll go ahead and answer some of the questions raised in this thread since the existence of the dev board has now been spoiled a little.

Any chance that the database will be rewritten to accept more connections then it does currently? I really like the new look, I just hope some thought goes into performance as well.

I've never had a problem with the db accepting connections. The system uses MySQL 4.0 right now - I'd like to get it upgraded sometime but that's no easy task.

My bad. Not database connections, connections of users to the actual website. We were talking about this over dinner at Gencon with Chris Johanson. He said that was the problem with EN World awhile back and why it was always down. It was explained to me that to fix it, the site had to go down for a couple days. I hope that's on the list of things to fix. I think he said the maximum number of connection is like 1,000.
