Un-contacted Amazon tribe

Take a look at this image:

attachment.php

It's of a native tribe in the Amazon that has never been contacted. It's making the news right now. Apparently the photographer did a fly-over of this village to get evidence they exist. You'll note that they seem to have two guards who aren't above aiming arrows at the gods who fly overhead in their great metal bird.

You'll also notice that they're being led by a drow.

Seriously, I'm really intrigued by the stark coloration of the darker person there. I'm about to start a Stone Age game, and I'm thinking now I have to have at least one tribe where some people cover themselves in black mud for religious reasons. Should it be priests? Battle leaders? Pregnant women? Plague-bearers? Imminent sacrifices? Criminals? Royalty?

the red colored ones are suposed to be warriors, they paint themselfs with a red fruit called urucum, the black colored is thought to be a pajé, shaman, and is probably covered in mud.

Part of me wishes they'll be left alone.

The other part of me wants to know all about them.

Still another part of wonders if they're even human.

Actually there's a lot of published material available online about stone age peoples. Wikipedia is a good resource for that. A Stone Age campaign would be quite neat--you might want to consider something like D20 or the Conan D20 system for running it.

Quite surreal

I was reading this thread when they did a piece on it on BBC news 24 which i had on in the background. experts were slightly cynical with the claim they had never seen other people before - though it might well be they're only in contact with other indigenous tribes

guess my synchronicity is ramped to max!

We MUST know what they think of Britney Spears, oil prices, Iraq, and global warming. Then we can build them a McDonalds!

Not before a Starbucks! Talk about Stone Age . . .
