I love the Fiend Folio. And there's a reason I really love how 4e assembles monsters. And thanks to Asmor for his awesome Monster Maker.

To be true to the original design, shouldn't its AC and Reflex defence be reduced while grabbing someone ;)

Yes, but I thought it interesting to have them get harder to hit as they grapple their victim. Kind of like a mutant whacky ball on crack. As soon as they get hit they're going to burst anyway.

You will also notice immunity to Blunt Weapons and Vulnerability to Piercing and Slashing weapons. This is one reason I like 4e monster design. Those types of vulnerabilities/immunities, don't "exist" per se. But the 4e design space does not "break" by adding them for a specific monster.

If you prefer the design of the original, subtract 5 from it's defenses when grabbing its victim instead of adding 5.

Tweak it as necessary for your game, I'm sure the gorbel does not mind.

I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for the Volt!
Ha, I used a bunch of them in my 1e campaign a couple of months ago! A colony of them nested in the holes lining the walls of a corridor. The nearby hobgoblins were able to safely pass through by having a cask of animal blood and a bunch of poles with a small sphere at one end at each entrance to the hallway. Whenever anyone wanted to pass, they'd dip the bulbed end of the pole into the gore and carry it above them as they walked down the corridor - volts would fly out and latch onto the bloody end of the pole, leaving the passersby unharmed. Took my players a few minutes to figure it out. :D
