Pathfinder 1E MSE Pathfinder Spell Cards

First Post
I do not have the technical skills to do this myself, so I was hoping I wasn't the only one thinking this.

Is anyone out there interested in developing Pathfinder Spell Cards that would use the Magic Set Editor? I'm looking for a template to use that I could type in the information. Maybe something similar to the 4E templates with the spell name at the top, action type, school and/or subschool, basic spell information in one block with rules text in bottom block. I understand that some of these would get pretty long if you included all the information. But I think you could do a rules-light version of the longer spells. Or would it be possible to make a larger card? 4x6? I know in our group several people had 4x6 cards that they had typed out 3.5 spells on. I know I could do the same for Pathfinder, but thought a MSE type card would just be cooler.

Thanks,

I've been using MSE for my Wizard's Spellbook, but I've just been using the standard magic templates. (Makes it kinda fun, finding the right graphics to go along with the spells.)

I wish I knew how to make the text bigger than the box it has for default so I could use the full art cards and do a full text overlay... but I don't know how.

Something like this? This is obviously just a basic black and white mockup. The MSE coding should be pretty simple unless you want some sort of automation, which I just don't have the time or inclination to really do. The card could have color or textures, but I figured if you're just going to print them out, you probably don't need art and colors. But that's up to you.

I've done MSE cards for Slasher Flick and Black Plauge and I did some nice ones for 4E D&D (also below just for comparison).

Yeah, something like that. Would work fine. But if there is someone else who has time and plays Pathfinder that knows how to dress it up a bit, I would be very grateful.

Do you know, can these be sized for 4x6 cards?

Dress it up artwise? Like using the community use icons and art on it for backgrounds, etc? I can do that.

I can make the cards large without much of a problem. MSE allows me to set the card size in pixels and the DPI resolution. So a 4x6 (by which I assume you really mean 6x4, 6 inches tall and 4 inches wide) would be 600x400 at 100DPI. That's a simply enough modification.

WOW! I am definitely amazed at your skill. I spent a couple hours working over the trying to figure out how to do basic stuff, and got a headache. Though I will admit, I'm not a computer person other than I can read what's on the screen and type a report.

Thanks for the help.

I've been working on something similar and posting my work in progress over at this thread on the Paizo forums. The cards are full colour 2.5x3.75" in size and colour coded based on the spell school. For spells with too much text to fit on the 2.5x3.75" card, I have created double-sized 5x3.75" cards.

You can find sample images in my picasa photo album and a list of all the cards completed to date below in the code block

The slow going is finding artwork that is in the public domain, or with Creative Commons/GNU licenses that allow me to make cards out of them, or even artist permission for non-commercial use of their artwork

These look great! However, I'm not into all the fancy artwork. Would it be possible for you to make your template available? I am willing to type in all the info. I was originally just looking for a template.

Thanks

I just realized I forgot to post a rough mock-up here. Here it is.

I'll try to finish the MSE coding template this weekend or early next week.
