Caverns of Icewind Dale Dungeon Tiles (DN1) went on sale yesterday. Here are pics of the tiles. This is a standard 6-tile $11.95 set, no box.

Please note: The snow color is the same on all tiles. My lighting made some tiles look different.

thanks for the preview! they look good, but they look more like the 'plains' of icewind dale, rather than the 'caverns'

Brrrrr! Reminds me of playing the old Icewind Dale game on my PC. Fun game, but I always felt so cold playing!

You make it sound as if that was a bad thing

I'll definitely get two copies of this set - although I would have liked something like this to be published about six years ago when my 3e Blackmoor campaign started.

I've got a bit of a silly question concerning this set (and several of the more recent ones).

Our group purchased the first 4 sets way back when. Then we stopped, as we had what we needed for the most part.

Recently, we picked up the Wilderness Master set and were looking to get this set.

But what's with the large white triangles on some of the tiles? What are they supposed to represent? I've not seen any explanation in the actual sets, and my google-fu appears weak right now.

Just from a glance, it looks like the "large white triangles" appear only on funky terrain areas. So it would probably be a quick minder to say that certain terrain rules apply to those squares.

The triangles represent difficult terrain.

Difficult Terrain, p. 60 of the DMG or p. 206 of the Rules Compendium. It basically costs 1 extra square of movement to go through those squares.

The triangles designating difficult terrain are carried over from the Dungeons & Dragons Miniatures Game and some of the poster maps.
