Kickstarter REIGN OF TERRAIN (Live on Kickstarter) (14 Terrains -250 designs)

Hello, Game Tile Warehouse has just launched a new campaign called the REIGN OF TERRAIN on Kickstarter - which aims to create over 250+ unique 10x10" highly-detailed designs for over 14 different terrains with 18 different designs that you can move around and rotate per terrain allowing you to build monster sized 90x90" custom layouts in your RPGs.
+ My Terrain mats are printed professionally on 305 GSM black-core matt card stock.
+ You can choose a variety of overlaid gridding to suit your play-style from square gridding, crosshair or even none.
+ Choose PDF Digital Files for VTT etc, or printed mats for instant lay-n-play.
+ Stretch Goals will include a specially crafted gigantic CASTLE & DUNGEON set, ELVEN TREETOP set, and TOWN & COUNTRY set each featuring all-new designs.
+ Add-on the double-sided CUSTOM TILE pack with 190+ pieces by adding $99 to your pledge. (Includes 36 x 5x5" mats, 24 x 4x4" mats, 21 x 2x8" mats, 24 x 3.75 x 3.25" hex mats, 50 x 1.25 x 1.75" tiles, 36 x 3.5 x 3.5" round tiles specially designed to use with these mats featuring all-new special tile packs that you can overlay on the mats to add fallen logs, bridges, timber lookout posts, tree-huts, buried temples, pyramids, gateways, sunken caves, rockpools, burrows, ravines, trees & stumps, pits, ruins and more – where YOU want them to be.
+ Throughout the campaign, I will post mini-pics of the artwork as I progress so you can see exactly where your dollar is going!
+ Every pledge of $25 or more gets your name listed as a backer on our website - but a few will have their name etched forever into the GTW Obsidian Monolith, a special hallowed rock of fame.
+ Every pledge gains you 1 vote if we reach the very special Stretch Goal listed below to unlock 1 of 2 incredible new mat sets: check them out.
+ This is my third kickstarter, my last one has had all digital rewards sent and all but one set of rewards from 38 backers ordered and/or shipped - ahead of time. I deliver what I promise.

So if you're in the market for more mats, take a look at what I have to offer.

I see the problem with this KS is that you only have 1 type of terrain mat to see visually. It doesnt even say what the other terrain types are as far as I can tell.
Its nice that you have thought through your stretch goals to a quarter of a million dollars, but your front page needs some more appeal by showing people exactly what they can get for their pledge.

Gotta agree here.

18 terrain types are mentioned, but there is only one terrain type example. Until there are more terrain types available to see then I couldn't in good conscience back this project.

Re: Reign of Terrain on Kickstarter

Hello, thanks for your comments guys. The majority of the terrain types are mentioned in the very opening sentence of the campaign and are Jungle, Snow, Ice, Desert, Caverns, Mountain, Beach, Ocean, Forest, Tundra, Wasteland, Grassy Plains, Volcanic and Rock.

Hi everyone. I'm seeking some advice. As you may know I've been working on producing a mountain of terrain tiles and have presently crafted just under 100 x 10x10 designs. Among the completed are the Forest, Jungle, Desert and Snow.
My intention as I have said is to offer these designs digitally for $1 USD each. So if you bought the entire set, it would cost approximately $84 USD (I am working on joiners which enable the terrain to fade into other types and these might add to overall expenditure by a backer as an option).

I want to offer the designs as Printed 10x10" Mats for $4 USD ea.

As Dry Eraseable 10x10" Boards for $10 USD ea.

As six-fold 27x18" boards with six designs melded into one for $35 USD ea.

As Hex Tiles measuring 3.75x3.25" for $10 USD per dozen.

And maybe if unlocked, via a Stretch Goal printed on 1/8" thick fabric surface rubber backed game mats measuring 23.5 x 28" for $50 USD ea.

(Prices approximate at this point in time - and do not include shipping.)

I'd like advice on what you think I should do as regards maybe breaking my Reign of Terrain Campaign into smaller chunks - because, thinking of the larger picture - while $275 USD for 275 digital designs is a mad steal, when it gets into the physical components side of things AND the logistics - the numbers (and work involved to ensure accuracy and delivery) start to get a bit crazy.

Couple of things to know:
The Mats are going to be double-sided. Right now I am thinking of putting Night-time versions of the design on the reverse instead of another terrain type. So 21 per set will likely become 22, and if I decide to do night versions 21 day or night tiles can be faced up at any given time. If I decide to put 11 designs of day terrain on one side and 11 designs of day terrain on the other (22) that decreases the number of mats a backer has to buy and have shipped considerably but doesn't allow larger play areas.

But for hypothetical, lets say I completed all 275 (not including the extra sets, which I think takes us to around 400 tiles.) I decide to put night versions on the reverse.

If a backer decided hey I want ALL of the 275 mats, that would be approximately cost $1100 USD + shipping.

If they wanted ALL of the Dry Erase boards, then that would be $2750 USD + shipping.

If they thought hey, I'll throw in some hex tiles, actually I'll buy all the hex tiles, and lets say that roughly 24 types per terrain, with 14 terrains, (336 types) - with obviously more than one type in each hex set, lets say 70 per set, (980 tiles) that's almost $10K + their Mat order...

I'm not suggesting everyone or even anyone is going to want all of the designs, in one or more formats but it's a possibility. Even halving those numbers is I think putting the full set of terrain out of a lot of backers hands who may not simply have $9800 lying around, but could afford a smaller amount more often over the next year if I commit to four campaigns with four terrain types + tile options per campaign.

It's not as impressive as having all of the terrain finished and available to choose from - but I'm one guy and I know my last kickstarters logistics was taxing even at that level - to bite off more than I can chew might place me in a position where I am overwhelmed by issues realting to shipping, tax, volume and communication. If you can see all that terrain but can't afford it at that time - what good is having it all there anyway?

Also if I produce just four terrain types per campaign, I can start on the hext tiles now and be ready to launch by March.

Any feedback would be appreciated on which direction I should take.

Kind Regards,
Kris

Update: I will likely do an 8x8 for the digital sets to make it easy to print each design on a standard a4 sheet.
