Yeah, no reason for the fighter to hog all the fun ;)

Quite honestly I think pumping more controller powers in all the martial classes with some build options designed for it the control part.
the warrior has more defenses because he does his control from much closer range the rogue can do run by control. The warlord gets some range but not masses of it and is still fairly front line even with control options ... so having slightly better hp and such than wizards is fine.

i am kind of enjoying listening in on the warlord discussions around 5e... I want Warlords to go another step and they are stranded even before step 1 LOL.

Yeah, you can forget warlord as a 5e thing, Mearls OBVIOUSLY hates the idea, and has simply cast it as garbage. There's zero chance of anything happening there. I personally think its a crying shame that one designer's biases have torpedoed one of the most innovative ideas in 20 years of D&D, but whatever. Nobody lasts forever...

I find it tragic and funny both... a lot of interesting ideas I have seen come out of not wanting the warlord to "heal"
Then a lot of amateur game fiddlers thinking granting an action by spending one is soooo over powered SMFH

In all fairness, granting an MBA is stupid powerful, if you're granting it to a Slayer! hehe. Of course, you have to optimize the heck out of it to get said Slayer up to snuff, except at lower levels maybe, so it kinda comes out in the wash.

wibbly wabbly goo for design... define a fracking simple attack as something distinct from the mba and mod that... what geniuses thought it was a good idea to change the assumptions about a core feature like that.

LOL, I definitely didn't mean to imply it was a GOOD design. Honestly, the whole design of Knight/Slayer is nonsensical IMHO. There's nothing EASIER about forcing the player to juggle which stance he's in vs just having him pick one of several at-wills like other classes do. It made utterly no sense whatsoever.

This one is now in my Character Builder...

Quite honestly its awfully cool control even without any class feature support
(which probably means the power that inspired it could use nerfed)

You could also make it Area Burst 2 within 5, each enemy in burst. Then allow shifting of all allies in the burst as well. That might be a bit tamer in some respects (but also a bit more flexible in others) if you need to cut it back slightly.

But here's one thing I like. Warlords have perfectly legitimate logic for party friendly powers. You could thus build a real distinction here. Mr Blasty wizard has to worry about the party, Mr Hector Warlord doesn't, but you can more easily (since there's no real traditions to deal with) keep his powers more in check in terms of ranges and etc.

There's obviously also potentially your more enchantment-based 'magic users', but they can in turn take their cues from the Warlord! Bards can kind of straddle the line, but being leaders they're more focused on other things.
