The Caldwell piece was not free. I think from here on out I'm going to withhold the costs of these and future art, though I did post the price of the Caldwell piece on another thread if you want to dig it up.
To continue Piratecat's theme of putting the quality of the professional artists into perspective, here is a picture I drew of Elijayess quite a few years ago. It depicts him as a low-level Kagonesti barbarian, before he travelled the world and acquired new skills and equipment. Scoring an even 18/00 on the strength score, this first Elijayess was still too bulky compared to the way I envisioned him in my mind. He was still an elf, albeit a wild one, and I pictured him leaner, as he would later be depicted by the professionals. But that's what you get when you use a picture of Rikus as your model.
It was also the picture I showed to Larry Elmore when I first described the character. Elmore's drawing is based off of this rendition.
