Placing these threads in the moderator forum would also make it so the graphics loaded through them would only be visible to moderators, which wold significantly reduce their effectiveness when used in rotation as banner ads.

But, that really wouldn't matter. PirateCat is an admin, and we're all part of his hive-mind anyway, so the ortated ads would function perfectly fine!
