Outgunned Superheroes

The differences are worth the separate books and it was due to them just having the Broken Compass rights sold...which they just got back a few days ago. They wanted to do something with the system but not just repeat Broken Compass, so they did Outgunned as their John Wick-style action movie RPG. The focus there is, as you might guess, high action and lots of fighting bad guys. They circled back to Indiana Jones and the Mummy style adventure movies with Outgunned: Adventure. The focus there is, as you might guess, lot of adventure and keeping your eye on the prize (the MacGuffin you're after) rather than John Wick-style shoot 'em ups. Both books are complete games unto themselves, so there's zero need for both unless you want both genres.
Which do you think is the better game: Broken Compass or Outgunned Adventure?

It’s been a minute since I read through Broken Compass, but, if I remember correctly, they’re really close. Outgunned is basically Broken Compass 2E. I prefer Outgunned Adventure because of those updates.
Thanks. A number of people on YouTube comparing the games also seem in favor of the updates.

Either way, Outgunned Adventure sounds fun. I only regret that I didn't back the Kickstarter for this when it came out. I had not realized that Outgunned was basically Broken Compass 2.0, which I had also missed backing. So I will probably try to get my hands on Outgunned Adventure ASAP, though maybe some of those associated products will also be offered as Add-Ons with the upcoming Outgunned Superheroes.

As @overgeeked said, the games are relatively close. My personal impression is that while both are relatively light games, Broken Compass even more minimalist than OG:A - and I personally prefer it because of that. Both games are great, though.

And regarding the supernatural stuff: that's definitely in.

I think there's a good chance of that.

If you subscribe for updates on the new campaign, they're releasing a good amount of sneak previews and are making it very clear that you can make Captain America, Batman and, um, Amethyst: Princess of Gemworld, with their sample characters so far.

A free quickstart guide is apparently coming soon. (The timeline to releasing it, hilariously, is the same graphic that Marvel uses to announce upcoming films in each of their "phases.")

Was that today's drop? Amethyst: Princess of Gemworld. She looks like a generic sorceress to me.

I do think that was a nice touch.

The outfit is as close as their Batman clone is -- which is to say, I hope they're up on their US fair use law, because Batman is worth a lot of money to Warner Brothers.
It's just what superhero RPGs do. Just like the comic companies do. If any of the Big 3-4 wanted to get pissy about it they'd very quickly form into a circular firing squad considering they all have clones of each others' most famous characters.

I haven't surveyed every superhero RPG ever, but that not-Batman is really close to the real thing, much moreso than I'm used to seeing.

Obviously, you want your players to be able to make Batman, but you usually want some plausible deniability so that Zaslav doesn't claim you're making money off their IP. (And if he's not going to do it, no one is.)

Wow. Just saw it. That "Shadow" certainly walks the line. His trope is even "Dark Knight."

Not sure if they are going for Amethyst as much as they are "The Violet Witch," but it could also be a little of Column A and a little of Column B.
