Shadowdark Western Reaches Stretch Goal: New Classes

I went with Jester and Psion, but I like all the spell casting options. I trust Kelsey will do something beyond just spells for psionics. Paladin and barbarian seem to be covered by existing classes. Jester at least feels like something new.

My issue with a class like a "jester" is answering the question of why a jester risking their life in a dungeon?

1. You were sent to the dungeons for an ill timed joke, they never said which one.
2. You've always wanted to laugh somewhere with a nice echo.
3. As you walk you hear tiny bells chime, you keep following the chimes.
4. You are still pulling that rope you were miming, it dragged you all the way down here.

"Jester" (or any other class) doesn't have to mean literal profession, as in previously employed as a court jester. And for those who are into crafting backstories, it presents a good opportunity to be creative.

FWIW, my jester (which I renamed "Fool") had:
  • Focus on thrown weapons (included a new weapon "throwing knife": 3/gear slot, disadvantage if not thrown)
  • Able to discern weaknesses in others
  • Resistant to mind-affecting abilities (because he's already kinda nuts)
  • Advantage on relevant tasks (tumbling, entertaining, etc.)
