I appreciate the sentiment, but how is the Kickstarter “anti-tariff”? Are the proceeds going to help fund some form of relief or activism? The campaign page speaks of ‘fighting’ the tariffs but it’s not clear how?

Also, in the name of all that is Billy Joel, shouldn’t it be called “We Didn’t Start The Fire”? :D

I didn't come up with the title, but QuasiReal is trying to offset some of their tariff expenses by running a digital only project.
Right, so it's just that it's a project that won't be affected by the tariffs? Which is fine, of course, but I must have gotten the wrong end of the stick with all the 'resistance' talk and the 'anti-tariff' headline. Feel free to ignore me!

Hey Morrus -

We have two projects that have been paid for but are still shipping or importing. We are using Start the Fire to try to absorb those costs and honestly to stay in business. I have already committed to eating tariff costs on Bria's Mythical Menagerie and am hoping to be able to commit to the same for Veil of the Eternal Night, if I can, over the next couple weeks.

I do view it as a small indie publisher fighting the tariffs... that's how it feels at least! Many of my peers are pausing plans, delaying, some are quitting, some are planning to pass on costs, and some folks are closing up shop. We chose this alternate route and are attempting to do what we do best: Telling stories & making games, to deal with the situation.

No attempt to mislead, I hadn't anticipated the perception we were being charitable, but I will make sure to clarify that as it comes up, and I'll take another look at the page to make sure it's clear too!

I get it. We have two shipments on their way to the US from China too. It sucks! :)
BHLECK. Good luck, my friend.

I went ahead and added a little blurb that clarifies this is benefitting us directly and not a charity thing--- just to stay above reproach. I appreciate the candor earlier <3
