I never owned it, but I remember seeing the cover in the store as a kid and then years later creating an adventures around that memory called. . . The Lair of the Lizard King ;)

So since I originally posted in this thread (20 years ago!), I have run through a 3.xE adaptation/conversion of this module as a player (around 2014) and have acquired my own PoD version in 2020 (though I still haven't done my own conversion to run it for 5E)

Oh and the link in my original post (to the Aquerra wiki) doesn't work anymore since that wiki is defunct.

Wow, talk about blast from the past. TSR dungeons were hard to come by back then, and I2 must have been the second relatively high-level "official" dungeon we did. And so our "high-level characters" had all been made experimenting with the random dungeon tables in the DMG1--where the dice usually rolled in our favor, obviously--and none of us were really prepared for some serious high-leveling.
Vividly remember the flame strike bit and one of the party almost dying, and then nothing less than a black dragon suddenly appearing out of nowhere and spewing gallons of acid on everybody--and being enormously annoyed at all of it. I mean, seriously? How were we supposed to get to the dungeon if half of us were already dead?

Yeah. So Part II never really happened.

However, since we're doing a bit of a 1E revival at the moment, the time may well have come to dust off I2 and see just how the current party are gonna deal with flame strikes and black dragons! :devilish:
