I'd go with Ranger. While Geralt is a lot like a modern D&D character in that he doesn't really have any low stats, the closest things he has to an average stat are Intelligence and Charisma. (Note that I also believe that stats are expressions of what a character does, not their innate capabilities. A character can be smart, but still have a lower Intelligence score if their training hasn't been focused on leveraging their intelligence.)

He's certainly not dumb, or close to it, but his knowledge base is focused on monsters and environmental threats, not on being widely well-read or scholarly. Likewise, he tends to attract loyalty far more because of his deeds than because of natural charm or persuasiveness, and the "looking like Henry Cavill" bonus doesn't apply to most versions of the character. :)

Ranger core with a custom subclass makes the most sense for a Str/Dex/Wis focused character with moderate amounts of magic and lots of environmental survivalbility and hunting/tracking abilities. The custom subclass can give spells that mimic sign use, low level spells and cantrips primarily, and some of the custom mutagen abilities could be either a custom racial ability or a moderate level subclass ability.

Yeah, I don't know. As I remember it, in the short stories there's a bit of "fantasy James Bond" vibe so far as his luck with the ladies goes. People seem to be drawn to him despite him being gruff and making little social effort. It feels more like he has a 20 in Charisma and is being played by a player who just outright refuses to roleplay anything social.

Hey

I'm not including blood hunter, with the reasoning classes which class fits geralt best and why?
If I had to use an existing class exactly as-is without modifications, I'd go with Ranger. Witchers have a certain limited amount of supernatural power available to them, so it counts, even if it's a rough fit.

If I could design a custom subclass specifically to represent it, I might go Fighter or Paladin, depending on the precise implementation. Fighter is...a pretty big class so its subclasses can't really carry very much weight. But it's also the only one that breaks free of the chains of Vancian spellcasting, and it has non-spellcasting supernatural subclasses, so there's some precedent.

Read the books. Straight up gmpc, possibly a multiclassed gestalt one to boot. His powers knowledge equipment and past ritualized witcher enhancement is too much and too varied for much of anything less

My vision of CHA is usually less about being sexy and more about, like, the ability to lead and influence. Dude is a loner who lets his skill speak rather than trying to be well-liked or influential. The folks that like him are particular, and most people think he's awful or useful at best. Middling CHA works for my mileage.
