Yeah, the nature of faith theme was a solid backdrop to this movie, and Josh O’Connor was absolutely spot-on playing someone who was having his reasons for this faith challenged from every direction. I was also cackling every time Josh Brolin was onscreen - particularly his “confession” scene. Throw in a classic locked door mystery, the Christie/Chesterton trappings…chef’s kissWake Up Dead Man was excellent on both themes/characters and the mystery, as well as both a really committed homage to the village murder mystery and a genuinely affecting discussion of religion in a way that G K Chesterton would have loved. Oh, and the Dead Man is American Christian morality.
