Deadly Denizens Vol. IV Dec (Legendary) Art Preview #2: This preview highlights the Black Dragon, a Legendary Tier edition exclusive, which features four new Black Dragon age statblocks: Adolescent, Subadult, Mature, and the Great Wyrm, with the Great Wyrm appearing exclusively in the Mythic Tier.
You may be wondering how these additions differ from existing versions in the Monster Manual and MME books, so here is the full progression from weakest to strongest: Wyrmling → Juvenile (MME2) → Adolescent → Young → Subadult → Young Adult (MME) → Adult → Mature → Elder/Old (MME) → Ancient → Greatwyrm.
With ten distinct age categories, echoing the depth last seen in 3rd Edition D&D, this expanded lineup gives you far greater flexibility to select a Black Dragon that precisely matches the threat level and narrative weight you want for your adventure.
Expect to see the rest of the chromatic dragons in later issues!

Deadly Denizens Vol. IV Dec Art Preview #3. The Zhalrana Hag, December’s latest Deadly Denizens art preview, is a nightmarish crone with leathery, pockmarked skin and a grotesque hornets’ nest fused into her hunched back, her multifaceted amber eyes gleaming with insectile malice. She loathes beauty and stillness, spreading infestation and decay through relentless swarms as part of her warped belief that nature must be consumed and corrupted to remain pure. In battle, she rends foes with venom-slick claws and channels druidic magic, tearing open her hive-back to unleash a shrieking cloud of hornets that engulfs everything in buzzing agony. The Mythic Tier issue will have the Zhalrana Arch-hag version.
