Trailer Avengers: Doomsday | Only in Theaters December 18, 2026

Like I said, I'm likely in the minority. It doesn't help that the movies since then have largely been mediocre or worse. Much like SW, though, at some point, you need to move on or the audience just dwindles, again, IMO. Have a great day.

Audience already moved on.

Box office results are a disaster recently outside left over of phase 1-3.

Captain Dad-Bod? It's pretty hard to be a biker-rebel (cough cough) with a bike named "Triumph" when you have to change diapers and buy groceries.

The bike isn't named "Triumph". Triumph Engineering made motorcycles from 1898 to 1983. Their "Model H" from WWI is widely considered the first modern production motorcycle.

Riding a Triumph or an Indian is basically saying, "I'm a motorcycle guy, and Harleys are for poseurs."

I wish they had just given the Averngersverse a rest and turned back to the X-Men.
They apparently intend to over the next several years (we got the first mention of mutants in the Ms. Marvel TV show), but shareholders want the numbers to turn around sooner than that.

I don't love that Steve Rogers is back -- no one realizes he's back at that house that all the world's most powerful people were at a few years ago? really? -- but since this is a multiverse story, he may not actually be our Steve Rogers and this might not be our Earth.

Years of an increasingly abusive relationship with DC Comics has made me wary of universal resets, but fingers crossed Marvel can make this one work, although that probably requires a clean slate for a new Iron Man, Captain America, etc., and I'm not sure that's the right direction to go just yet.

Give us X-Men, give us the Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, give us other classic Marvel stuff that we know works instead.

That said, MCU Steve Rogers is the first time I've ever enjoyed the Captain America character, and I will happily watch Steve Rogers back on screen for what I imagine is his final go-round.

Harley Davidson is struggling financially (before the tariffs) because their core audience are Baby Boomers who are, frankly, having to start wearing diapers of their own.

The rebel biker hasn't been a thing outside of Japanese bike street racers for decades now.

I expect, through one or another path, that's the goal. They just seem to want to make that turn part of the story, instead of doing it with no explanation.

The upcoming film is "Avengers: Doomsday". It introduces Doctor Doom, with Tony Stark's face.

The following film is "Avengers: Secret Wars". In the comics, in the most recent (third) iteration of the "Secret Wars", the multiverse is falling apart, for reasons. To save something, Doctor Doom acquires godlike powers, and patches together a "Battleworld" under his rule.

There's a big fight over whether Doom should hold the universe together. How that whole saga ends can explain why we have Franklin Richards right off the bat...

Um, no. Where do you think that scene is?

Last we saw Steve Rogers, he went back to live a life with Peggy Carter. Presumably, he and that kid are back in the late-1940s or '50s.

-- but since this is a multiverse story, he may not actually be our Steve Rogers and this might not be our Earth.

Technically, yes, but I don't think that's the intended implication of the scene.

Chris Evans is the best Chris, after all.

Nah, Chris Evans and his knees are moving on. That kid will be whoever's the hot young star in five to 10 years.

Nah. By the implied timeline, that kid is a Baby-Boomer. By now we'd be looking for Steve Rogers' grandkid or great-grandkid.

What i really think needs to ho is the massive interwoven tapestry of the MCU. I deeply enjoyed it leading up to Endgame, but they will never recapture that, so they should not even try.

I want them to let people experiment and put their own spins on these characters and stories. And to be fair, they have largely done that with Disney+ series. But the movies seem stuck in the old formula. Even FF, which is enjoyed and had its own visual language, felt like an MCU movie from beginning to end.

That's not the house where Tony Stark's funeral was?

I guess I need to rewatch the trailer. I was under the impression there was 21st century tech in the scene.

Him being in a different time or a different world is probably the big twist of him being "back," for sure.

But the grown-up kid won't be played by Evans, which was my point. Evans has other ambitions and not everyone wants to wreck their body like Tom Cruise is intent on doing.
