I experienced this recently at my once a year visit to a Burger King. The AI spoke clearly, didn't get distracted and, most importantly, got my order 100% right, which is not a guarantee at any drive-thru other than In-N-Out.

Since most fast food workers that work the drive-thru window are also doing other tasks, like pouring drinks or working an easy cooking station, I don't think AI order takers are going to displace any humans and will actually improve service for customers.

I'm an AI skeptic, but I have a hard time being upset about this one.

1. The robot giving massages
2. The robot being a training dummy for massages or CPRs or health care personal etc. (learning how to touch humans is better when its more natural)
3. In general being harder to distinguish to a human, thus feeling more natural to interact with (humans touch each other in many situations)
4. Helping with treatment of patients which might have fear of touching humans.
5. Testing products for humans like special clothes, which need to not melt/get fast destroyed by body temperatur etc.

The current tech level is pretty great, for the record. In most posters' lifetimes, the stuff we live with today was science fiction, some of it pretty fanciful.

The only thing science fiction writers were too optimistic about, really, was space travel.
