Errant Thinking
Villager
The small ones among us may be overlooked, but they surely have grand tales to tell! Let's explore these tiny epics in the RPG Blog Carnival. Smol mouse & a needle sword, or a Shadow of the Colossus boss fight? Share your creations early and I will do a weekly weekend update! Final roundup on March 31st.
The RPG Blog Carnival is a community blogging event meant to encourage us all to blog around a central theme within the month. It is for increasing our blogging repertoire, giving different perspectives on the same topic, and encouraging community and discussions!
Tiny Epics: Small Souls in a Big World! - Errant Thinking
Let's discuss! If you have any ideas or questions, feel free to ask.
I've personally been considering how to make a satisfying "Shadow of the Colossus" style boss fight, esp. ever since I saw this fan made panel snippet for Mouse Guard. My thoughts on this currently is to do what I've seen some other's recommend in blogs, which is to treat the larger creature's body parts as separate creatures. I think this relates to the "1 HP dragon" problem too, where that is more of a puzzle boss where you have to figure out its weaknesses before you can actually kill it. You can have some plans and do actions to restrain it or avoid attacks, to get you time to get to the final puzzle piece (or final blow if legend of zelda or shadow of the colossus style). Anyone have any thoughts on how to make that satisfying in general? Or a different way of looking at the problem entirely?
