The previewed background lists “Sharp Eye” as a new Origin Feat but also allows you to swap your Origin Feat with a Dark Gift of your choice. Interesting.
Disappointed that Dark Gifts are just origin feats now, but I guess it makes sense after both Dragonmarks and Wild Talents filled the same niche. Hope they still have the kiss/curse elements and aren't just pure upside.

Am I the only one that's disappointed by the lack of a 'Curse of Strahd' anniversary edition?

And to be honest, last year WotC did an update on Forgotten Realms and Eberron, this year apparently Ravenloft and maybe Dark Sun... If they do two setting updates per year, they'll be running out of settings in a couple of years... Greyhawk, Dragonlance, Spelljammer, Planescape, and none of the other settings have been touches in 30 years... Maybe they'll plug in some MtG settings, but it'll be bare. What would they do after the initial 4-5 years?

And some have argued: We already have books. Yes we already had books when the 5e versions were released. But the 5e 2014 versions aren't as compatible with 5e 2024 as many would like. Books might be OOP, or just need an update after half a decade and a new edition...

Personally I'm not that excited for this new Raveloft book, but at this point in time I expect that we would see this in modern licensed VTTs, thus giving us a basis for 5e 2024 campaigns without a lot of customized stuff. The same goes for the rest of the lineup of products, the only thing that does get me excited

Seriously . . . was Strahd always an elf?
In their natural state Vampires get pointy bat ears...

No, but as a vampire he’s always been depicted having the pointy ears. 5e has made him more elven-like facially than in the past a bit.

He was always described as looking "half-eleven" due to his vampiric nature.
Great. The next thing someone's gonna tell me is that vampires can "magically shapeshift" into creatures with "pointy ears" that . . . oh, wait.

This is about where I like my vampire ears to land for pointiness:
