Where’s the lie? 5.0 material that hasn’t been updated for 5.5 can absolutely be used in a 5.5 game. I’ve been doing it, and it has worked perfectly fine. That's not true.
Watch the video there. Crawford very clearly says that rules in 5e books(PHB, DMG, Xanathar's, etc.) that do not appear in the 5.5e books can still be used when playing 5.5e. That's compatibility of rules, not just adventures.
It was the claim that the only backwards compatibility mentioned was for adventures.Where’s the lie? 5.0 material that hasn’t been updated for 5.5 can absolutely be used in a 5.5 game. I’ve been doing it, and it has worked perfectly fine.

The only ongoing backward compatibility. You aren't intended to use the 5.0 rules forever, just the adventures. It was the claim that the only backwards compatibility mentioned was for adventures.
There is massive and continuous evidence from 1973 on that the game is aimed at 12 year olds: Gygax said so in the early drafts of the game, it ha been the consisteny policy of WotC. These new books are aimed at teenagers who bought books in the last two years, not older people. Those are nice-to-haves.There is no evidence of this claim. The idea that they don't intend people to buy the new books if they already have the 2014 books is laughable.
Yeah, barring some weird twist with the Winter product, I think they meant "mystic" because it was a thesaurus match for Arcane. So, this is clearly what that “mystic subclasses” UA was for, right?
No, subclasses are compatible too. They just did an update to Beyond that allows 40+ 2014 Subclasses to work with the 2024 base Classes, without changing them.Compatibility was only ever promised for the existing adventure library.
Told ya it wasn’t for an M:tG crossoverYeah, barring some weird twist with the Winter product, I think they meant "mystic" because it was a thesaurus match for Arcane.
Well, they haven't announced the Winter book, so thst is still a distant possibility lol.Told ya it wasn’t for an M:tG crossover![]()
