Wizards of the Coast is getting back into the Actual Play game. Today, Wizards announced via Variety that they are launching a new Actual Play show called Dungeon Masters, starring Jasmine Bhullar as the Dungeon Master along with players Mayanna Berrin, Christian Navarro, Neil Newbon and Devora Wilde. Wilde and Newbon are veterans of Baldur's Gate 3, a smash hit for the Dungeons & Dragons IP. However, both actors will be playing new characters and not their Baldur's Gate 3 characters.

Of note is that the show will feature "official, unreleased D&D content" which will be put up for sale on D&D Beyond following every episode. The first arc takes place in Ravenloft and will feature content from Ravenloft: The Horrors Within. New episodes will be released weekly on YouTube, starting on April 22nd.

Wizards of the Coast previously produced several official D&D Actual Play series, including Dice, Camera, Action and Force Grey. Dice, Camera, Action was their flagship D&D program for years until it unceremoniously ended due to a scandal involving two of its players.

Yeah, even the least expensive person in DADHAT almost certainly costs more than the most expensive person from the BG3 voice cast. And we also don't know how much that crew enjoys playing D&D, where we have seen the BG3 crew seems to have really gotten into it.
The two we know were into D&D before the movie are $5 million per movie Michelle Rodriguez and nine projects since release Sophia Lillis. Page and Pine both turned into youth play advocates, but there's not really evidence of them still playing and they were introduced through the movie.

I think their primary goal with these videos is to get actual play fans excited about upcoming books. At least for this first adventure, I don't think they thought anyone would care much about the map.

If more than a handful of people bring it up, I bet they'll make new maps for future seasons. I would let WotC know over on YouTube in addition to here.
If it was just this map, sure.... But it's pretty much every map. It's like they don't know they have a VTT. And that others use them on other ones.

All in all, I’m not super excited to preorder to get maps I already have purchased in previous products. And the dim purple doesn’t do this old man’s eyesight any favors. I wonder if Wizards does any accessibility scrutiny.

I really really enjoy the tv show, though. I feel like these encounters could be REALLY useful to teach beginner DMs. But this one, at least, is missing that connective explanatory instruction.

It’s broken in a few ways. An experienced DM can fix it, no problem, with a better map, and actually putting the features on the map that the encounter describes.

But I wish the show had as a goal more of the teaching of the game. If, at the least, to bring more people into the hobby.
