Hi Guys. As you may know, Russ and I are working to compile the existing ENWorld databases together. I'm also researching a way to tie the login registries of Vbulletin & PostNuke together. Finally, I'm trying to talk Russ into migrating the hosted sites that want to be migrated into the central database. Emphasis on "want to be." If you don't want to be, that's fine. No hosted site will be compelled to do anything :) Assuming everything works as planned though here are some of the benefits of your cooperation citizens <evil grin> The primary advantage of running ENWorld as a multisite with one backend instead of several is increased speed on the server. Second, the database can be searched site wide. For instance a search for spells will turn up all spells in 13 kingdoms, Dusk, ENPublishing or wherever else they might be. Second, if the login crossing works as planned members of this community will no longer require seperate logins for Vbulletin and the campaign. Third, I'll design a theme for you guys' site to replace the default theme you're using now, complete with graphics subject to a few sitewide elements which are: 1. Ad banner present 2. Hosted by ENWorld appears as part of site logo. 3. Curved seperator bar as appears on www.enworld.org 4. Sitewide Announcements. Everything else will be up to you. Fourth, news headlines from hosted sites within the database will be able to appear on the front page of ENWorld. Currently these have to be submitted to the news staff and they must post them because they are seperate items. When all materials are in one database though this process can be automated. If you wish, relavant news items from elsewhere on ENWorld can appear on your site - for instance you could have the headlines appear on the right menu. Currently we're planning to have ENPublishing and PDF News reference each other, and Sci Fi New's LotR related items will be posted to Middle Earth d20. Fifth, each multisite has to have a subdomain *in addition to* the existing domains it may have. So you'd get 13kingdoms.enworld.org. This has to do with how the multisites module works. Anyway, that's what's planned long, long term (we're talking months in the future here, no rush at all, just mill it over some and provide some feedback).
