Maybe they will cease to produce d20 Modern material, so technically it's dead, but they will nonetheless still print and sell the existing books.

Or maybe d20 Modern is doomed to disappear, and then later D&D 3.5, and then any kind of RPG. Oh well...

Isn't that how Star Wars went down the tubes? Fewer and fewer releases, without any focus to the line, and then quietly dropped as the last movie is released.
No, Star Wars had another reason.
Wizard has a license to produce 6 SW Product a year. And these licences have ben used
for the SW Minis Game which is much more succesfull than the RPG.
There was a big dicussion in the SW forum about this.

But never the less, you might be right with your thought about D20 Modern.

Well, we already know (thanks to Amazon) that a d20 Superheroes supplement is planned for July 2006; before or after that, I haven't done my rumor-homework.

Unlike Star Wars d20 Modern is Open Content and is thus supported by large numbers of 3rd party publishers who still produce some really good material. Just go to any of the pdf distributors and search for d20 M products adn you get tons of hits. I am personally involved with at least 2 products coming out next year that work off of the d20 M system.

SW could only exist as long as WotC produced for it, not the case with d20M.

But it does seem that there is no focus whatsoever to their releases, almost like they're trying to scattershot method of figuring out what will sell. Unfortunately, the scattershot method can only be sustained for so long.

What you see as a lack of focus I see as WOTC "playing the hits".

Their product line for d20M is starting to look downright GURPs-esque to me (and I consider that a good thing).

They're doing nice, focused genre books and leaving the campaign design to us, with a nice set of toolkits to build from.

d20 Cyberspace? Not even a blip on my radar. Interesting, popular idea for a setting about 10 years ago. Now, not so much.

Let me get this straight. Supplements that you, personally, do not care for don't count?

I also have some d20 M credits to my name through RPG Objects. As has been said, there are numerous 3rd party publishers that produce modern material.

Stormborn, Vigilance, and kingpaul are right. d20 Modern benefits from the 3rd party support that SWd20 could never have had. If you limit your d20 Modern experiences to just the material put out by WotC, then you are missing out on a lot (you did mention "kitbashing", however, so I can presume you do have experience with 3rd party d20 Modern material).

I, however, haven't noticed a decline in the amount of material being released for d20 Modern by WotC. They have never released much material for the game to begin with. It seems like your disinterest in some of the recent and upcoming releases has coloured your opinion; perhaps a more correct summation of your first post would be "Is WotC going to stop putting out d20 Modern material that I find useful?" Just an observation.
