17 Magic Armors (PDF) 17 Magic Armors is one of the latest entries in The Le Games' line of PDFs. As expected, this one focuses on magical armor properties. As a slight "unorthodox" bonus, there are 19 properties included in this product. The first thing that sprang to mind as I was reading this pdf was that it was both interesting and enjoyable to read. The layout was very easy on the eyes, making it quite easy to navigate. In addition, the writing flowed quite nicely for most of the pdf. However nicely this product was put together, it does have some flaws. There were a couple of instances of awkward phrasing, and I counted no less than nine misuses of the "it's" contraction. On top of that, one of the properties had "Market Price: +x,000gp" at the end of its entry. These editing mistakes, while not sinking the product as a whole, do make it more annoying to use. The art in the pdf was humdrum and forgettable. It almost felt like wasted space. Despite the flaws, I think that this is a good product. Part of the introduction included some sample adventure hooks that could lead to the discovery of the recipes for the properties in the book. That was a nice touch. Also, I give 17 Magic Armors high points for creativity; several of the properties made me think, "Ooh, I wonder if I could work that into my regular game?" The balance on a couple of the properties presented in 17 Magic Armors seemed questionable, but these issues are easy to address by altering the prices involved. I also need to note that I haven't actually tested these properties for balance in my campaign, so this concern may be unfounded. Either way, balance is always a questionable thing when dealing with D&D supplements, so I rate this as a very minor concern. Overall, this is an enjoyable product, and I rate it at 3 stars due to the editing issues. If these were to be fixed, I would adjust my rating to 4 stars.
