Don’t worry. The 1948: Organizations, Agencies, and Secret Societies doesn’t actually say who that is on the cover, though it does offer a clue. If your player’s don’t recognize him, it won’t mean anything to them. Organizations, Agencies, and Secret Societies is only the first in a list of many supplements for this setting. In a few weeks there will be: 1948: Ray Guns (featuring about 14 different ray guns and advanced firearms, plus some bonus accessories for your advanced weapons) 1948: Wonder Weapons (detailing several advanced vehicles including super tanks that weigh over 1,000 tons and personal hover platforms) 1948: Drugs and Serums (covering several powerful intoxicating and/or gene altering chemicals, some of which are addictive, others add punitive templates [-1 level adjustment…. Like a curse] ;) ) 1948: Player’s Guide (detailing dozens of advanced and prestige classes that are available in 1948. This material is already back from the editor, I’m just waiting on more artwork before it gets released). 1948: Campaign Primer (discusses several power groups, plot lines, adventure hooks, themes etc.) 1948: Heroes and Villains (a collection of NPC stats, from generic soldiers to the most elite unique individuals) Plus plenty of other material as I get the time to work on it. Nope, neither. :) I’ve never heard of Fortean Times. Though now that you’ve mentioned it, I spent about an hour reading their site and I think it is great! Thanks for mentioning it. I’ve added a link to it on the 1948 page as it might be good a source for game ideas. I’m aware of GURPS and SJG, but I almost never go to their site and have never read anything by Mr. Hite, until just a few minutes ago. He seems like a pretty smart guy! 1948 is based on ongoing research that started while I was writing Modern Eras (1939-1945), which contains some hints of the 1948 elements, such as death rays, occultists and super soldier templates.
