I’ve been contemplating doing this for awhile now and I’ve decided I’d like to DM my first play-by-post game. It will be a OSRIC 2.0/1e game. The idea is to have it be a relatively sandboxy game with little overarching plot not generated by the players. The world will be a homebrew I’ve been planning (and am running a live group in sporadically) so hopefully the kinks will be worked out. The world has plenty of legendary places, infamous bands of monstrous humanoids and strange and mysterious magical places. Many names of which the PC’s can here in any Bard’s tale and decide to investigate. The structure of the forums and the principals of 1e should make it easy to have individual groups head off on their own if they so wish, meaning a very large group of players is possible. As is the introduction of new players throughout the game. The game will initially start with all the players in a caravan. More about the world etc later. We’ll be using invisiblecastle.com for all rolls. For Character Generation: 1. 4D6, drop the lowest, assign to abilitiy scores in the order they are rolled. (1e order Str, Int, Wis, Dex, Con, Cha ) 2. Use OSRIC 2.0 for prices/starting money. (Exception: 1 week rations 3 gp., iron rations 1week 5gp. . . . this is much cheaper) Roll 3d6X10 cleric/druid, 3d6+2X10 fighter classes, 2d4X10 Magic-users illusionist, 2d6 thieves assasins. 3. Pick Weapon Proficiencies 4. Secondary skills from 1e DMG (pick one, or roll. I can roll for you if you do not have access to the table) 5. Max starting hit points. ‘House rules’ 1. Fighters will gain bonus to THAC0 each level., everyone elses progress with be ‘normal’ on the combat tables. 2. 1e stat requirements for classes, not OSRIC, this means if your looking at OSRIC ignore any requirements for a 6. I’m planning to launch the game in two weeks if possible (during reading week.) I’m hoping to find players who are normally able to check/post something every other day (This is especially important in a fight.) (If you made a character for the other OSRIC 2.0 game on this board that didn't happen, your welcome to drop it wholesale into this game. Without the horse, cart and chest.)
