To each his own, though the figure of Charon is a cool idea. Even with nWoD we struggle with a diff of 8 and in some games we drop it to 7 like in the Trinity Universe games. And Mage works a bit better if you can change the difficulty number on the die. But again, I do like some of the dice conventions, especially the exploding dice. And I like the smoothness of a single roll to determine combat results (which I have adapted because I don't think WW knows what cinematic means because it seems to me they think it means "you die a lot and fail spectacularly often" quite different from a GURPS cinematic campaign), with a Strength + Melee + Weapon Damage rating roll, but I allow characters to roll Stamina to soak, and if they are dodging Dexterity + Athletics. And with that I've adopted the "you can't dodge a bullet" (except with Celerity dice). With nWoD out and the new anniversary editions of cWoD, it allows all of us to toolkit a custom game we want to make. If you just want to make one closer to cWoD with maybe one or two tweaks that's your game. If I want to make some extensive changes, that's my game. To each his own. P.S. Not giving out xp sucks, I never, ever do that (even when running a one shot). And we had an ST who was always "telling a story" (he was a writing MFA candidate). We got tired of his characters talking to each other and the Deus Ex Machinas he would pull for the NPCs to keep us from "ruining" his plots. We then proceeded to turn his love for the WW metaplot against him just to actually have some effect on the campaign.
