The Consul's force field had held handily. The acid was completely harmless to it and the dragon didn't get a chance to attack it directly. -''Wow. Hum. Thank you. Anyone knows how to bring that force field down, now?'' asks Consul Jorgen, shaken but coherant and unharmed. The tiefling indicated with an helpless shrug that he had no way of getting out of his saefty bubble. As it turned out, after the death of the agent who had activated the force field, there was nothing to do but wait. Barely a minute later, the protective enchantment dissipated on its own. -'Lucky for me that th beast had no idea we had such protection. I could swear it actually looked surprised when it saw its acid breath break on the magic defenses. I wonder why the hell it attacked. It does not strike me as a particularly sensible and common thing for a dragon to do.'' --- -''The others? Well, there are those whose blood you are stepping in right now. See anybody you know?'' And Mirage did know some of these people. Volunteers and guards, mostly, but the speech writer and the campaign treasury secretary were amongst the deceased. -''As you saw, there are also some who managed to hide upstairs, right above us. I don't have a head count, let's go say hi.'' Kendrick finished severing the devil's head and bagged it. He also picked up a peculiar golden necklace* that had come loose. He seemed satisfied and then headed upstairs along with Mirage. The Inn occupied a lot more room upstairs than on the first floor. The owner of the inn also owned the next two adjacent building and had linked the upper floor together to have more rooms while the ground level had been rented to various shops with no access to the floors above them. Mirage remembered that Kendrick had apparently come from one of these western rooms built above the shops. From the eastern rooms, two guards and a handful of haggard citizens were tentatively emerging now that the fighting was over. A white haired human veteran seemed to be in charge of them. He hesitated upon seeing Kendrick but the sight of Mirage, whom he knew to be a SCU bodyguard to the consul, reassured him. -''Good to see you, sir. [sblock=*]Mirage's Perception (1d20+6=19) The necklace is a simple gold chain with a medallion showing the draconic rune for the word unity. Mirage recognize that necklace as beeing identical to the one worn by Lars Kinnar, a human who works on the campaing; he's an event coordinator. The rune itself is unremarkable; it is very popular amongst Undhil's patriots. You see it in graffi, tattoos, jewelry etc [/sblock]
