Kern and Nathan have some trouble joining with the rest of the crew; their crystals are out of reach and there is no relay since Control was wounded. But they are less than a mile out from the campaign HQ and they make the trek back. Once on the site they see that reinforcement have finally started to arrive on the site. In short order, the communication network is re-established and the team exchange news. Kern and Nathan drag their prisoner to the manor and re-unite with their team. --- -"Well, truthfully, the old man had been waiting for a ransom demand that just wasn't coming. Looks like they weren't interested in money. I still doubt they would kidnap the son of such a powerful man just for... hum... I am not entirely sure what use he was in this little experiment. None of the golem's part seem to be made of tiefling, so to speak. What would you use a tiefling for, if you were a demented weirdo? Anyway, I guess this is was all secondary. First they must have pumped him for information or maybe forced him to do something for them and then, instead of just slicing his throat and leave him in a ditch, they got creative with his carcass." Kendrick grabbed the jar with Akmenos' head. -"Well, contract is over. I won't get a bonus for this one but I still owe the father to bring him back something he can bury. It's been a pleasure working with you." --- [sblock=OOC]Perception check was a failure, but you can take twenty so essentially sooner or later you find everything you can. It this case, it will be later... I will account for it in the next encounter.[/sblock] Garrick takes his time but eventually inventorize the following items of interest : A laboratory journal A series of letter between (found in a small safe in the master's bedroom) A set of ritual books A list of coded names and numbers (Also in the safe) A financial ledger These can investigated with various skills (and common sense; if you state upfront you are looking for specific subjects you might get an automatic success). --- The halfling can obviously be interrogated as a skill challenge. He seems both fanatical and affriad of the consequence of talking. DC 21, 4 success before 3 failures.
