After idling for a few hours, Day 6 kicks it into overdrive. This is the show at its best--Jack on his own with enemies above, below and beside him. Every beat tonight ratcheted up the suspense.

The supporting characters are finally becoming compelling---the credit to which goes to Powers Boothe. He's giving Day 6 some real gravitas.

So, Tom Lennox isn't a complete creep. The only question that remains is, then just how big a creep is he?

I haven't watched much of Day Six, but from the looks of it, Lennox is a pretty big creepazoid. The only thing that keeps him from being a complete creep from the looks of it is that he's something of a coward. Correct me if I'm wrong though. ;)

I'm not sure whether or not he's a coward. He lied to his assistant about accepting their reasons for trying to kill the president. Of course, he's got to be a fairly smart man, and probably realized that if he admitted that he was going to turn him in, not only would they kill him, but there would be nobody to implicate them, and they'd likely never get caught.

To me, that's the difference between good and stupid. He went along with them, just long enough to get to a position in which he could involve the authorities, and then he turned himself in, and gave them up.

All this is assuming that he wasn't actually going along with it, and just having second thoughts.

What use would admitting the truth to a pair of murderers and getting killed serve? Not much...

Yeah its definately in overdrive now. I'm so interested to see how this turns out. Jack in a Siberian prison at the end of the season.

How dumb was Jack to just walk up to the door of the consul's room after getting the information?

He didn't think the entire rest of the consulate staff would be lying in wait?
He couldn't have made his phone call while still pointing a gun at the consul's desk?

For that matter, how dumb was the random Russian guard whom Jack convinced to call CTU? He acts all suspicious with his shifty-eyed "no one can see my fondling this cell phone in my pocket" act, then goes into some side room, doesn't close the door, and then turns his back on an open door.

Gah.

LOL...that's 24 for ya.

Yes, but that scene could have been done just as well with a little more action and a little less stupidity. The bad guy Russian notices that the good guy Russian is talking to Jack, then comes in right as the GGRussian is making his phone call and puts a bullet in his neck. Jack then gets into a fight and gets even more beat up, and things turn out even worse.

The show is full of times where smart people turn mysteriously brain dead at just the appropriate time to necessitate waiting through a commercial break, or waiting until next episode to recover from something that never should have happened in the first place, etc.

The open door for the consulate guard was so obvious, as was Jack walking to the door of the consul's room. I mean, he's just cut the guy's finger off, and tortured him in other ways, and what's he expect to do? Walk out and say "hey guys, we're done talking now, see ya all later, I'm going to go save the world"? Instead, he overlooks the obvious and gets himself captured...just in time for CTU to send in a squad to rescue him next episode.
