Re: Re: 2E Thief/3E Rogue Sing it, brother. My character is a rogue. I made him a rogue because I wanted to make an athlete and the Rogue has all the Tumble, Jump, Balance, etc. skills. Eventually, I branched into Acrobat to expand on this concept. Still, no one ever made the mistake of asking me to pick a lock, disarm a trap, or even stand guard -- because I suck at all of those. Hey, with my one level of Wizard and a familiar, I more than doubled my spot and listen. I'm also LG and the stongest character in the group. My Rogue is responsible for upholding some sort of moral compass for the group and often fills the role that Paladins often do in that regard. It's may job to do the heavy lifting and door bashing. Recently, we had to cross a pit, and I had to pick up the Bard and jump across with him, jump back and pick up the sorcerer to do the same thing. About the only Rogue-like thing I do is Tumble through enemy threat zones and set up flanking so I can gut them. For the most part, though, the party views me as a warrior. Of course, what's funny is that my wife, who is a Duelist, is playing a Fighter with the bare minimum of Rogue levels to qualify for the Duelist PrC. She's got one of the lowest strengths (only the sorcerer is lower), the highest dexterity, and the highest intelligence. As an elf, she also got the Cloak of Elvenkind, so she's the advanced scout. Woe unto the aggressor who says "Ah, the advanced scout is usually a Rogue with low HP and easy to hit."
