D&D 3E/3.5 [3.5] Ability enhancements and bonus spells

Do items that provide spellcasting ability enhancements (headband of intellect, cloak of charisma, periapt of wisdom) also provide bonus spells? The spells these are based on (Fox's Cunning, Eagle's Splendor, Owl's Wisdom) specifically prohibit it, but the only thing addressed in the item description is skill points.

I could have sworn there was a 3.0 FAQ answer on this, but I can't find it, and the spells have changed anyway ... I'm tempted to rule with the current spell decriptions.

Thoughts?

Answered my own question by inference.

Looking at the NPC tables in the 3.5 DMG, it would indicate that the items in question do grant bonus spells (although the specific spells themselves do not). It's not as satisfying as a clear rule specification, but it'll do.
