Hobgoblins! (Final Round) Lars grunts in pain and mutters "That was foolish of me." Louder, he says to the hobgoblins around him, "Heironeous smite thee, foul cretins!" as he regains his balance and swings the battleaxe at the one that struck him. His axe gleams momentarily with silver light, as do Lars' silvery eyes. His axe strikes true into the hobgoblin's chest, but Lars' head still rings a bit and for a moment he's unable to focus and see how well he struck, the pain distracting him for just an instant as the blade cuts into goblinoid flesh. The creature's armor takes most of the blow, but its grimace of pain cannot be hidden. Determined to aid Lars, Orinar continues forward, leaping atop the trestle table seperating him from the enemy. Using the height granted by the table to his advantage, the giantskin slashes with his greatblade, though there is little strength behind the strike. Nevertheless, the hobgoblin crumples under the strike. Kyl pops up from his crouch and throws a javelin at the hobgoblin coming around the table toward Lars's flank. The missile catches the creature square in the chest, staggering it back into the table and then to the floor in a clatter of dishes. Menno steps to his left clearing broad back of his companion. Getting sight of his target he breathes out small bead of fire and it lands behind enemy line where it expands in fiery inferno reaching almost to Lars, but not touching him. "Face the wrath of dragons, you spawn of darkness!" The radius of fire flares out, catching two of the downed hobgoblins it is flames. When the heat and smoke dissipate, none of the monsters remaining standing. They are all down, and dead or dying. [sblock=XP!] 188 each! That puts everyone at 1013 XP, if my notes are correct. That's enough for 2nd-level. See OOC thread, please. [/sblock] [sblock=Combat Box] Neurotic: A 5-foot radius attack covers a 10-ft. by 10-ft. square with the center being a vertex, enough to catch two of the three hobgoblins. I marked the fiery burst on the map with a cross at its centerpoint. Lars: 2 lethal, 5 nonlethal. Orinar: 6 nonlethal. Kyl: uninjured. Menno: 1 lethal.
