D&D 3E/3.5 3.5 Eberron Adventuring Service

I thought of an interesting business which could exist in Eberron. (although it could probably exist in other settings also.) An adventuring service, similar to a dating service, a place where for a small membership fee (perhaps a fee of 10 gp.) you are allowed to meet with other adventurers who are there for the same purpose to form an adventuring party. This seems to be a way in which you could explain how the different players met each other in a way that doesn't seem accidental or contrived. In a world where adventuring is a field of its own it seems logical that individuals would want to have a way of meeting other adventurers to form parties very similar to a place you go to if you need a crew of sailors for your ship. What do you all think?

It's an interesting idea, and would certainly work in large cities. I've always felt that the adventurers were part of an elite group of people, while the vast majority of NPC's were just Level 1 Classless Human.
I like the idea, though, I really do. I might be tempted to use it.

Maybe more like a society or club with dues and a meeting hall? You could have to qualify in some way - they could employ detect evil and detect lie as necessary. Maybe have an "upstairs" suite for higher level adventurers? And maybe like a "Craigslist" - I want / I have - for magic items and whatnot...

There could be two competing societies - say lawful and chaotic, competing to get the neutrals to join. One could raid the other.

This could get very interesting...

Sharn - City of Towers briefly describes two adventuring guilds. (Clifftop Guild and Deathsgate Guild.) A guild is a place to meet fellow adventurers, sleep safely, store valuable objects and gather information.
