Yet you are saying that Bards, whose concept revolves around performing should divide their points among a variety of perform types. A mechanic that gave you a number of styles equal to your charisma modifier is far more fair and balanced when you consider everything together. A Bard should be able to walk into town, sing, dance, play and act. That is what they DO!

No, *I* said a 20th level Bard, with 23 Ranks of Perform, should have 287 Cascade Sub-skill Points; enough to be Rank 23 in... 12 performance styles, with 11 Ranks left over.

{Edit] Besides, your mechanic isn't well thought out... My CHA 10 Ranger has Perform (Harp) 1... In your version, he'd have NO performance styles! Pity the poor Half-Orc who takes it!

I've discussed this a little bit...

I'm basically just gonna invent a Perform "skill" that encompasses everything in the basic style of each Bard in my campaign. Thus, ending the conflict.

I'm still not happy.

That's a good fix, Gene. Perhaps an even more specific middle ground lies in having a single Perform skill apply to three specific areas chosen when it's taken (e.g. harp, storytelling and singing) and another three for each additional Perform skill taken. Problem is that though this suits bards, other classes it suits less so...
