Hi,
Just posted a question about a Stormcaster, which is currently potentially my preferred PrC for my first character (currently a Lvl 3 Wizard). Like I mentioned in that post this is the first time for a few of us and we have a fairly large party, so our DM is encouraing us to focus on things like flavor and RP.
The other PrC that I found that initially grabbed me was the Incantantrix, for the line in the PGtF about them "disliking extraplanr intrusions", as this really fits in well with the setting/campaign we are on (which our DM has created himself). However, the class itself didn't really seem to have any abilites to do with Planes apart from that one single line - I've done a bit of searching, and the consensus appears to be that this is just text hanging over from an earlier version (3.0), and that the revised version is more a pure specialist in Metamagic
I'm wondering if there are any 3.5 classes that pick up this flavor from the 3.0 Incantatrix and expands on it? our DM has said that we can use any 3.5 book apart from Draconomicon. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks

Holy Fire, in my signature, is a variant on that last one. If Stormcaster appealed to you in the other thread, look here, as the main focus of Holy Fire was to make a good blaster; the anti-undead and outsider banishing effects are secondary, and plenty of ward spells are open to you through the sorcerer and paladin lists.)

thanks - you've been awesomly helpful with a bunch of questions now, it''s definitely appreciated!
it might be a little late for something like that Holy Fire build (which looks like it could be pretty fun to play, btw), as we're already into the game a few levels so not able to start over with a new build.
Just so you know where this is all coming from, btw, essentially a group of us that have been gaming (as in board games) for a while now recently started up a 3.5 campaign. It's a pretty large group (between 5-7 each session) but we all bounce off each other pretty well. The group is mixed, with a few guys having played a lot before, a couple of intermediates, and a few total newbies (of which I'm one), so the DM decided that to start off we would be restricted to core-only and then as we get used to it/pick up speed we can start looking at other books for stuff.
For me, i'm waiting for a new contract to start so have a bunch of free time atm, and i''m a sucker for getting into stuff properly, so have been reading a bunch and getting ideas - i'm not really focused on making an ultimate creation or anything, just looking to gives things an interesting/fun twist and something to build towards whilst making early choices
The planes thing actually came from the initial stages of the campaign - we've been encountering some pretty bizarre stuff (outsiders, rifts to other planes apparently appearing over the continent) and, as the party's resident wizard i've been paying closer attention to that sort of stuff. I think I can capture the flavour of that somewhat by researching some of those spells you mentioned in the holy fire build that deal with planar travelers/outsiders etc, so that's a pretty good start, cheers
my current scenarion is that I've just taken lvl 3, and so am choosing my first new feat. Our DM mentioned prestige classes the other day as something to consider when looking at feats in case there are prerequsites that need taking. Me being me, i'm now hung up on which feat to choose as I haven't exactly got a plan for 'lvl x take PrC1, lvl y take PrC 2 etc - just an idea of what I might like to play)
Perhaps I need to stop overthinking things and just take it easy with the first guy - enjoy the RP aspect and look for fun things to do without balancing too many different factors?
thanks again for all the help (now let's see how long it takes before I'm back asking more questions!)
