D&D 3E/3.5 3.5 update to Holy Liberator (Dotf)

I want to update this Prestige Class. I am not sure how far to go. So far, I have tried to use the updates to the blackguard as a template, so from that I went for the extra holy smites/day. Are there any other changes others can think of?

Or nix the spells, and give them a slow "+1 to caster level" advancement ... once every three levels or so, or whenever thay get a less-than-spectacular class ability. Off hand I'd say 3, 6, and 9 look pretty good. This is a PrC that, IMO, really sucks taking to 10th level. Even if you do leave the seperate spellcasting as is (which I detest as a rule) there really isn't a point ... +1 bab and one more 3rd level spell kinda sucks when compared to Fighter or some such.

Just update the spells and give them extra smites as they level. Have them use the Blackguard spell progression with the Holy Liberator's spell list (as modified by 3.5 changes).
